Guizhou establishes green industry technology institute

The Guizhou Green Industry Technology Institute, a provincial R&D institution, was unveiled at Guizhou Science City in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Dec 30.

The institute aims to screen and collect domestic and international sci-tech achievements that suit Guizhou's development by attracting talent, projects and funds. It will also help Guizhou's traditional industries solve technical problems related to the development model and protect the natural environment.

It was co-established by Guizhou and Southern University of Science and Technology in South China's Guangdong province and will carry out talent training and academic exchanges focusing on green technologies such as clean energy, new materials and carbon management.

This is the first time that Guizhou has cooperated with a university from another province to build an independent legal person institution. The institute aims to commercialize advanced technologies and become a successful example of cooperation between Guizhou and Guangdong.

According to Zhang Yuke, executive vice-president of the institute, it will introduce excellent teams and technologies from home and abroad to build an R&D platform.

It will also cooperate with Guizhou companies to build collaborative innovation centers and labs, implement strategic cooperation agreements signed between Guizhou and universities, institutes, government departments and companies, and promote Guizhou's development of green industries and sci-tech innovation.
