Guizhou issues plan on battery and battery material development

Southwest China's Guizhou province recently issued a plan setting goals, tasks and measures to boost the high-quality development of the new energy battery and battery material industries in 2022.

Guizhou will focus on the cultivation of major companies and the construction of key projects, form a complete battery industrial system, and accelerate the construction of battery and material R&D centers relying on the province's resources and industrial foundation.

According to the plan, Guizhou will guarantee the supply of resources, energy, materials and power, arrange the schedule for equipment maintenance, examination and repair, and ensure the safe and stable operation of equipment to unleash the production capabilities of new energy batteries.

In 2022, the output value of Guizhou's new energy batteries is expected to increase by 80 percent year-on-year.

To optimize the industrial layout, Guizhou will accelerate the cultivation of battery material and raw material industrial clusters, compensate for weaknesses in the lithium material industry, and explore the "coal tar, needle coke and anode material" industrial pathway.

The plan also requires government departments to provide policy support in mineral resource guarantees, energy-consumption index assignments, energy supply, finance, land usage, stock market listings, loan applications and employee training.

The plan is expected to attract public attention to Guizhou's new energy battery and material industries, increase investment, and spur Guizhou's industrial growth.
