Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Southwest China's Guizhou province and Vitebsk State Medical University in Belarus held an online exchange activity themed on traditional medicine on May 16.

The activity aims to further enhance international education cooperation and promote Guizhou's traditional Chinese medicine in more countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The event will last five days, and more than 200 experts, teachers and students from both countries have been invited to explore traditional Chinese medicine culture through online visits, lectures, presentations and discussions.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus, and Guizhou attaches heavy importance to its exchanges and cooperation with Belarus.

In 2021, the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province and the economic committee and general administration of education of Vitebsk Oblast held a dialogue between the university presidents in China and Belarus.

That same year, Guizhou and Vitebsk officially signed an agreement to establish a partnership, while Guizhou's nine universities and Vitebsk's five universities also signed cooperation agreements.

Liu Xingde, president of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that Guizhou is one of China's four main producers of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, and that Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only university of its kind in Guizhou.

The university has alumni living in more than 10 countries and regions. Liu expressed hope that the two universities can use the exchange activity as an opportunity to promote the integration of traditional and modern medicine and improve the skills of medical workers.

Vitebsk State Medical University believes that the activity's discussion on hot issues such as combining traditional Chinese and western medicinal practices can allow students in both countries to learn and grow together.
