As the temperature rises, flocks of herons are coming to the Chishui River in Renhuai city in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

On the two hundred-year-old white figs in Shaping village along the river, herons can be seen nesting and mating.

To protect the environment along the Chishui River, Renhuai has launched a 10-year strict close fishing policy for the Chishui River Basin, regulated problems related to environmental pollution, improved sewage treatment plants, and worked to reduce pollution.

Renhuai also established a river chief system at company, village, town and city levels. River chiefs are required to regularly clean up garbage in the river and reservoirs, prevent illegal fishing and carry out patrols along the river.

Biodiversity in the Chishui River Basin has increased as a result, and the dense woods along the river have become a paradise for wild birds such as herons, fish hawks and cormorants.
