Guizhou carries out tree planting activities across the province

Southwest China's Guizhou province organized an activity in which government officials and ordinary people planted trees on Feb 7, which was also the first workday after the Spring Festival holiday.

On the day, more than 6,700 people in Guiyang and Guian New Area volunteered to plant 93,000 trees, such as Chinese yew, Chinese crab and ash-leaf maples.

In Zunyi's Shenxi village, 16,000 people planted more than 210,000 trees, covering a total area of more than 3,800 mu (253.33 hectares).

The city of Liupanshui set up 91 tree planting areas, attracting more than 6,800 people to plant 67,000 trees, covering a total area of more than 1,300 mu. Since 2015, more than 8 million people in Liupanshui have volunteered to plant 42 million trees in the city, leading to 250,000 mu of land being afforested.

By the end of 2021, Liupanshui had established 31 cili (Rosa roxburghii) planting gardens, each covering an area of 10,000 mu, utilized 1.29 million mu of forest to develop forestry derived economy, and achieved 35.75 billion yuan ($5.61 billion) in forest output value.

The city of Anshun has been carrying out voluntary tree planting activities after the Spring Festival holiday for eight years. So far, the city has planted 2.65 million mu of trees, bringing the total forest area to 7.92 million mu and forest growing stock to 17.82 million cubic meters.

The cities of Bijie and Tongren, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, and Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture also organized an event for government officials and ordinary residents to plant trees for spring.
