The authorities of Southwest China's Guizhou recently issued a transportation masterplan, under which the province will have 2,000 kilometers of high-speed railways up and running by 2025.

At that point, Guizhou will have achieved its target of innovating finance channels for transport, constructing intelligent traffic, integrating transportation with tourism, improving rural roads and limiting the risks involved in road construction and operations in mountainous areas.

Under the blueprint, Guizhou will speed up its construction of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway and the Panzhou-Xingyi High-speed Railway, to complete a railway network based on the New International Land-Sea Corridor and the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway.

Guizhou will also establish a water transport system connected with the Yangtze River and the Pearl River. By 2025, Guizhou is projected to have opened 4,000 km of water transport routes, including 1,000 km of high-level shipping lanes.

In addition, Guizhou will construct and innovate more roads linking main scenic spots, hot spring holiday resorts and tourism towns. By 2025, Guizhou will have renovated 3,100 km of national highways and it will have constructed secondary roads to 20 towns and townships and 70 scenic spots at the national 3A-level and above.

By 2020, Guizhou had reportedly established a transportation system with 7,607 km of expressways, 1,527 km of high-speed railways and annual civil aviation passenger throughput of 30 million people.
