Guizhou's 10 major industries show high-quality development

During the first half of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province saw growth in 10 major industries, with total output reaching 741.17 billion yuan ($114.43 billion), an increase of 19 percent year-on-year.

Statistics show that the output value of modern energy was 161.72 billion yuan, that of tobacco and alcoholic beverages was 108.78 billion yuan, green food was 81.75 billion yuan, big data and electronic information was 81.03 billion yuan, base materials was 76.9 billion yuan, new building materials was 76.25 billion yuan, advanced equipment manufacturing was 63.2 billion yuan, the modern chemical industry was 62.42 billion yuan, medicine was 47.24 billion yuan, and new energy vehicles was 27.75 billion yuan.

Among the 10 major industries, 4,019 industrial enterprises had a main annual business revenue of over 20 million yuan and 140 enterprises achieved more than 1 billion yuan in annual output.

The 10 major industries employed an average of 791,000 people, while the modern energy and advanced equipment manufacturing industries employed an average of more than 100,000 employees.

Eight of the 10 major industries achieved two-digit increases, and the new energy vehicle industry had the highest increase – 38.7 percent year-on-year.

In the future, Guizhou will continue to expand the scale of major industries and boost high-quality industrial development.
