Bamboo Sea National Forest Park, a national 5A scenic spot in Chishui, Guizhou province, boasts natural bamboo forests and beautiful lakes to present China's natural wonders at their best in summer.
The park's central attraction is its wild bamboo sightseeing and recreation area. Covering an area of 630 square kilometers, the region features green lakes, waterfalls, green forests, creeks, Danxia land formations and hundreds of millions of bamboo plants.
Deep in the bamboo forest is Zhuhai Lake, which covers an area of 86,400 sq m, with a water storage volume of 406,000 cubic meters. The fascinating landscape encourages people to linger.
More than 3,000 hectares of Nan bamboos (Phyllostachys pubescens) blanketing the mountains form a boundless expanse of green waves accompanied by fragrance — ideal for a summer vacation.
The bamboo industry is now booming in Chishui, which has a total forested area of 88,533 hectares. The bamboo is mainly used for producing chopsticks, flooring and household paper, and has helped 180,000 farmers increase their average annual income by more than 4,000 yuan ($618).
