Southwest China's Guizhou province is constructing a big data analysis system to adjust tourism services and information to better address tourists' demands. The system's development relies on the construction of a national big data comprehensive pilot area.

As one of Guizhou's key projects to develop intelligent tourism, Guizhou's first official online tourism service system was launched in May. The platform provides professional tourism information and customized products to tourists using big data, livestreaming, online retail and blockchain.

So far, it has the information of 488 scenic spots, 5,936 recreation areas, 3,003 restaurants and 1,331 shops in Guizhou.

In recent years, more and more scenic spots in Guizhou have applied advanced, intelligent technologies. For example, Tuole Ancient Ginkgo Scenic Spot in Panzhou city has installed QR codes on every ginkgo tree to allow tourists to learn about the trees' age and height and other information related to the scenic spot.

The integration of big data and tourism also improves the management efficiency of scenic spots. Using a big data platform, Baili Azalea Nature Reserve in Bijie city received over 30,000 vehicles and 200,000 tourists during peak season last year with no severe traffic jams.

The platform shares information with the provincial highway administration, which can update vehicle information for parking lots in real-time, allowing the management center to divert and redirect tourists based on the data.

Guizhou will further apply big data in tourism services to accelerate the tourism industry's recovery amid the novel coronavirus epidemic.
