People's Bank of China to open data center in Guian

Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province signed an agreement with the People's Bank of China to co-build a data center on Aug 18 in Beijing.

Fan Yifei, deputy president of the People's Bank of China, stated at the signing ceremony that Guian's location and resource advantages make it an ideal place to build the data center.

Fan hopes that Guian can utilize its position in the big data industry to promote the data center's construction, build a national finance infrastructure cluster and improve the financial service system's security level.

The project will become a fully functional data center with the highest security level and a vital part of the People's Bank of China's data center layout. The center will also play an important role in the bank's development strategy of financial digitalization.

Once completed, the data center will support the bank's technology structure transformation and information technology resource construction and become a primary site for its cybersecurity and information technology application work.

Guian is devoted to creating a data center cluster, electronic information manufacturing cluster and a software and information technology service cluster. The development of the data center is currently accelerating.

Hopes are high that more banks and financial institutions will invest in Guian, helping the area to become a national big data pilot area.
