Southwest China's Guizhou province recently issued 1.17 billion yuan ($165.86 million) in targeted poverty alleviation funds, which will benefit about 541,700 students from impoverished families.

The funds include 173 million yuan for 189,400 high school students, 75 million yuan for 68,500 secondary vocational school students, and 926 million yuan for 283,800 university students.

Guizhou has started targeted poverty alleviation measures in education since the autumn semester of 2015, aiming to solve the financial problems of impoverished students in rural areas.

In order to ensure the implementation of the funds, the Huizhou Provincial Finance Bureau will urge local finance departments to arrange the funds on time, as well as enhance supervision by cooperating with departments utilizing the funds.
