Eastern Guizhou batik is popular in some parts of Rongjiang, Danzhai, Sandu, and Duyun in Guizhou province.
The batik in the Pingyong area of Rongjiang county utilizes set dyeing. It mainly uses concentric circles, zigzag patterns, and long lines as the whole frame. Flowers are painted in the gaps of the frame, leaving no space.
In the southern regions of Danzhai county, northern regions of Sandu Shui autonomous county, and the eastern areas of Duyun, women's clothes are mainly decorated with batik.
The traditional patterns include long straight lines, zigzag lines, hook shapes, semi-circular shapes, plum blossom shapes, wheat shapes, squares, spiral shapes, buffalo horn shapes, and net shapes.
Among them, the spiral shape and buffalo horn shape are two kinds of memorial patterns left by ancestors that cannot be changed or abandoned. This pattern, which has been passed down from generation to generation, is based on geometric figures and is painted full on the space without leaving gaps.
The patterns created in modern times mostly depict the shapes of objects, such as flowers, fruits, butterflies, fish, and birds. The flower branches are mostly delicate long vines. The whole space is evenly arranged.
Miao women's dresses in this area are made of batik cloth by themselves.
