Looking back on 2024, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, took a number of solid steps to ensure people's wellbeing, delivering practical results that met residents' expectations for a better life.

In healthcare, Yunyan advanced the standardization of grassroots medical institutions to fulfill the public's comprehensive health needs. The "15-minute health service circle" initiative has made significant progress, with all 28 grassroots medical institutions – comprising one township hospital and 27 community health service centers – either newly built, upgraded, or put into operation, ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for residents.

To further enhance medical services, the district fostered collaboration between community health centers and top-tier hospitals, including the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University and the Guiyang Public Health Clinical Center.

Through partnership agreements with 18 community health centers, a tiered medical system has been established, enabling grassroots diagnosis, dual referrals, and integrated management of acute and chronic diseases.

In elderly care, Yunyan focused on creating a "15-minute elderly care service circle". By optimizing service offerings and improving infrastructure, the district achieved a 95.5-percent community elderly care facility coverage rate, with 100-percent operational efficiency. Over 16,000 elderly meals were provided across eight senior dining locations in 2024.

Employment also remained a top priority. By exploring local resources, hosting 37 recruitment events, and using innovative approaches like live-stream job fairs, Yunyan facilitated the creation of 40,112 new urban jobs, achieving 106.12 percent of its target. Support for entrepreneurs also included subsidies and 34.62 million yuan ($4.72 million) in guaranteed loans.

Moving ahead, Yunyan will commit to expanding social welfare initiatives and improving the local quality of life.
