The 2024 Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talents and the 26th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology took place on Dec 24-25 – and Tianhe district of Guangzhou really stood out.

A highlight of the event was the release of the 2024 Guangzhou Unicorn Innovation Enterprises list, featuring a total of 200 outstanding companies.

Tianhe grabbed the limelight, with 45 of its companies making it to the prestigious list, securing its second position among all the 11 districts in Guangzhou.

Companies on the list predominantly excel in fields such as biopharmaceuticals, information technology, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and e-commerce.

Notably, the biopharma sector led the pack with 34 companies, representing 17 percent of the total.

Information technology, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing sectors each accounted for 25 companies on the list, contributing about 13 percent each.
