Guangzhou's Fashion Capital is transforming from a traditional trade zone into a modern fashion hub.

Located in Shijing subdistrict, it now hosts over 1,100 fashion companies and more than 100 brands, with annual transactions exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14.32 billion).

The upgrade features renewed venues, with old factories converted into integrated complexes such as Tongli Fashion Port, which combines fashion, technology, and culture. A new wholesale-retail model has also increased customer flow by 50 percent in pilot areas.

Strong policy support and improved infrastructure have attracted major investments, with a recent promotion conference securing over 20 billion yuan in committed funding for projects such as a new industrial park.

The focus is shifting from manufacturing to original brand development, as markets like Guangda Shoe City now feature over 80 percent original brands, supported by designer initiatives.

Plans for Fashion Capital 3.0 include expanding the industrial park and developing wellness tourism to continue its evolution into a leading fashion center.
