Baiyun Lake Digital Tech City emerges as new engine for digital economy
Baiyun Lake Digital Tech City, a core development platform in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, is rapidly emerging as a new engine of the regional digital economy.
Leveraging its dual advantages in ecology and industry, it has attracted 23 key projects with a total investment of approximately 16.4 billion yuan ($2.35 billion). These projects span chip design, artificial intelligence, and the metaverse, forming an initial digital industry cluster. From January to November 2025, the number of industrial enterprises above a designated size in the city increased to 247, generating 19.5 billion yuan in revenue — a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent.
Supporting infrastructure is advancing simultaneously: medical facilities, educational institutions, and commercial complexes are gradually being established, the transportation network is continuously improving, and the ecological landscape of Baiyun Lake has received municipal recognition.
Positioned as a key base for "Digital China", the area is transforming from the city's periphery into a new hub of digital technology under the model of "integrating technology with landscape". It is rapidly progressing toward becoming a "world-class digital lake district" and is emerging as a vital driving force for Guangzhou's high-quality development.
