The completion of the first phase will enable residents of Foshan and Guangzhou's Jinshazhou area to travel more quickly to Datansha Island and Guangzhou's city center through the Pearl River East Bridge. The second phase of the project, which connects Datansha Island with Zengcha Road and extends to Xicha Road, will include the construction of the main line of the Baini River Bridge and two ramps of Datansha Island Interchange E-F, as well as the interchange node of Zengcha Road.

The Guangfo Bridge is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the Jinshazhou area, strengthen ties between Nanhai and Guangzhou and further improve the road network in both cities.
