Construction on the second phase of the Guangdong Work Injury Rehabilitation Hospital started in Baiyun district in November.

The new facility will cover a total construction area of 72,000 square meters and include a comprehensive building with 17 floors above ground and three floors underground. It will offer 590 new beds, aiming to become a new hub for rehabilitation medical services.

The Guangdong Work Injury Rehabilitation Hospital is the first of its kind in China, integrating clinical, rehabilitation, teaching, research, and prevention services. It is the largest rehabilitation institution in Guangdong, dedicated to providing comprehensive, systematic, and high-quality rehabilitation services for the injured and disabled. With the rapidly aging population and increasing numbers of patients with chronic diseases and groups with sub-optimal health, the demand for rehabilitation medical services has been rapidly growing.

The second phase of the project is expected to be completed by May 2027. Once completed, the hospital will have a total of 974 beds, with a service area of 129,000 sq m. The new facility will adopt an inward-facing layout, breaking through the limitations of the original site expansion and providing flexible space for functional conversion and laboratory expansion.
