Guangzhou Metro Line 11 set to open by year-end
The Guangzhou Metro has announced significant progress on its first circular metro line, Line 11, which is set to open by the end of this year. This will enhance Guangzhou's connectivity and improve the commuting experience for residents.
Starting Oct 2, the terminal station of Line 21 will be adjusted from Yuancun Village Station to Tianhe Park Station to facilitate the final construction phase of Line 11. This adjustment is necessary to complete the circular route of Line 11, which spans 44.2 kilometers and connects key districts, including Yuexiu, Liwan, Haizhu, Tianhe, and Baiyun.
Line 11 will feature 31 stations, with 26 interchange stations, making it a pivotal addition to the Guangzhou metro network. The line will integrate with existing lines at several key points, including Yuancun Village Station (Line 5) and Tianhe Park Station (Line 21).
The construction of Line 11 has reached 98 percent completion, with the remaining work focused on the segment between Tianhe Park and Yuancun village. This section, originally part of Line 21, will be reconfigured to meet the specifications of Line 11, involving extensive modifications to platforms, signaling, and power systems.
During construction, parts of Yuancun Village and Tianhe Park Stations will be temporarily closed. Passengers are advised to use alternative routes and transfer stations, with additional services provided to accommodate the changes.
