New Baiyun-Guangzhou Intercity Line approaches completion
The new Baiyun-Guangzhou Intercity Line is on the cusp of opening, bringing promising improvements for commuters and travelers. Recently, the Zhenlong Station on the Xintang to Airport T2 section passed its fire safety inspection.
By the end of July, the overall project progress had reached 90.7 percent. The decoration and renovation of post-station works are complete, the equipment installation is at 99 percent, and the four-electrical system is at 97 percent. This intercity line will connect major hubs and integrate with multiple metro lines, improving connectivity across Guangzhou's northeastern regions, such as Huadu, Baiyun, Huangpu, and Zengcheng.
The line starts at Xintang Station and runs approximately 78 kilometers, passing through the Zengcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, before ending at Guangzhou North Railway Station. It will also connect with other intercity lines, including the Guangzhou-Qingyuan and Dongguan-Huizhou lines, and metro lines 14 and 21.
The New Baiyun-Guangzhou Intercity Line is expected to significantly shorten travel times, with trips from Xintang to Baiyun Airport taking only 20 minutes, and from Guangzhou North Railway Station to Baiyun Airport taking only seven minutes. This development will improve regional connectivity and promote economic integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
