Baiyun athletes to compete in Paris Olympics

On July 27, Liang Weikeng from Baiyun district, Guangzhou, will compete in the men's badminton doubles at the Paris Olympics alongside his partner Wang Chang, aiming for the gold medal.

Liang, born in November 2000, started learning to play badminton before the age of 6, with encouragement from his father. After years of training, he joined the Guangzhou semi-professional badminton team in 2011 and gradually made his way to the national team.

With his perseverance, solid fundamentals, and explosive playing style, Liang has proven to be an outstanding athlete. He is Guangzhou's ninth world champion in badminton and made remarkable contributions in last year's Sudirman Cup.

In this year's Indonesia Badminton Open, Liang and his partner clinched the championship, reclaiming the world's number one spot. He is now preparing for the Paris Olympics to compete for the men's doubles gold on behalf of the Chinese team.

The people in his hometown are proud of Liang's achievements and look forward to his success at the Olympics.

The badminton competition at the Paris Olympics will take place from July 27 to Aug 5, with China fielding strong teams in all events.
