New adjustments applied to Guangzhou metro lines

Updated : May 27, 2024

Starting from May 22, the Guangzhou Metro Line 14 has undergone the latest adjustments from Jiahewanggang Station to Dongfeng Station.

In the first quarter of this year, the weekday peak passenger volume in this section exhibited a continual upward trend. In order to better accommodate the commuting requirements of residents, Guangzhou Metro has opted to introduce two new trains to operate during the weekday peak hours in this section and to implement a new timetable.

These two new trains, delivered last year for the second phase of Line 14, consist of six-car B-type trains that maintain the identical design concept of mountains, rivers, forests, and springs as the first phase, boasting a maximum operational speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

The revised timetable introduces two distinct operational schemes for weekdays: one for Monday to Thursday and another for Friday. Following these adjustments, the average train interval during weekday peak hours is expected to be reduced by 40 seconds, resulting in an overall capacity increase of approximately 10 percent. Additionally, short-term peak intervals have been implemented during specific periods to better accommodate passenger demand.

On April 29, the first new train started passenger service trials, demonstrating excellent operational performance and proving its capability for regular passenger service on the mainline. The departure times of express and local trains in the Jiahewanggang Station to Dongfeng Station section are poised to vary on weekdays based on the operational organization of the line, while weekend schedules are set to remain unchanged.

Furthermore, to align with the adjusted timetable and facilitate seamless transfers, Line 14 from Zhenlong Station to Xinhe Station is anticipated to undergo synchronized schedule adjustments starting from May 22.
