On May 9, the Guangdong Provincial Committee held a rural work conference, during which counties and districts to receive outstanding ratings in the 2023 assessment were reported and commended. Baiyun district was included on the list.

Since 2023, Baiyun has seen its regional GDP reach 280 billion yuan ($38.7 billion), an 8.1 percent year-on-year increase and ranking third in the city in terms of growth rate.

The success of Baiyun can be attributed to systematic advancement, the establishment of a comprehensive command and execution system, and the implementation of 192 key annual tasks.

Baiyun has invested a total of 10.9 billion yuan in funds for the development of key industries, the construction of major platforms, the expansion of modern industrial clusters, and the growth of market entities.

To bolster urban-rural coordination, Baiyun has accelerated the establishment of four major hubs, leading to an overall enhancement of transportation capabilities and a series of achievements, such as Baiyun International Airport retaining its position as the national leader in annual passenger throughput.

To boost reforms, Baiyun has implemented the "1+3" town-street pairing mechanism, improved the business environment, facilitated the development of smart government projects, implemented the "Seven good livelihood projects," increased expenditure on livelihoods, and promoted advancements in education and healthcare.
