The train running along Metro Line 12 (Xunfenggang-Higher Education Mega Center South Station) recently made its debut in Baiyun district, while the section of tunnel running from Donghu-Higher Education Mega Center South Station has been completed.

The new train's exterior includes a mix of deep gray and light gray as well as grass green accents.

Metro Line 12, one of Guangzhou's "X-shaped" diagonal lines, connects Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station and serves as a vital transportation link between Baiyun, Yuexiu, Haizhu, Huangpu, and Panyu districts. It is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the central area and bolster rail transportation in underserved areas.

Metro Line 12 is the first metro line in Guangzhou designed for fully automated driving (excluding the APM line), with the vehicle section divided into automatic driving zones and manual driving zones. The civil engineering work on Line 12 is 79 percent complete, with the shield tunnels fully connected, stations topped off, and decoration work at the Higher Education Mega Center South Station parking lot progressing smoothly.

Metro Line 11 is already operating in Baiyun, while Metro Line 12, the second phase of Metro Line 13, the second phase of Metro Line 14, and the branch line project of the northern extension of Metro Line 8 (from Jinianguan to Jiangfu) are all under construction.
