Sweet arrival of Jabuticaba in April
The trees in the farms of Renhe and Zhongluotan towns in Baiyun district are already laden with plump and round fruits.
Citizens are invited to come and taste these fresh and sweet fruits, with the picking period expected to continue until mid-May. In the Fengyi Ecological Park, farmers are busy picking Jabuticaba, including three varieties: Shaba, Fukuoka, and Four Seasons, with the sweet and acid-free Shaba being the most popular.
In addition to growing Jabuticaba, the Zihong Forestry in Mali town sells fruit tree seedlings. It conducts educational classes and agricultural tourism integration projects, attracting citizens and tourists to experience the joy of picking and tasting the freshness of Jabuticaba.
Jabuticaba, also known as "tree grapes," is rich in anthocyanins and can be eaten with the skin and seeds, earning them the nickname "Hermès of the fruit world." April is the best time to harvest Jabuticaba, as it is juicy and has a delicate and sweet taste, exuding the aroma of fruit as well as a subtle milky fragrance.
Chen Yanbin, the person in charge of the Fengyi Ecological Park, stated that over the years, they have drawn on the research achievements of major agricultural universities, using base fertilizers and potassium fertilizers, resulting in the overall vigorous growth of Jabuticaba trees. The fruits have a bright color, are large and plump, and have a refreshing and sweet taste. This year, the yield per mu has reached thousands of kilograms, marking a great harvest.
