The constructor started to lay tracks for the Guangzhou Metro Line 12 project on July 27, marking the beginning of new railway construction.

The track laying construction plans include setting up five bases for track laying machines and four scattered-laying bases. More than 960 workers will be working onsite during the peak construction period.

Guangzhou Metro Line 12 will be outfitted respectively with moderate, high-level, and special vibration reduction measures near sites such as households, schools, and hospitals along the route, with the goal of minimizing the disruption of residents' lives and improving passenger comfort.

Total planned length of Guangzhou Metro Line 12 is 37.6 kilometers, and its Baiyun segment is expected to be around 16 km long with 12 stops, including Xunfenggang, Liheng Road, and Chatou stations.

By providing transit between Guangzhou's five districts, including Baiyun, Yuexiu, Haizhu, Huangpu, and Panyu, and connecting to the Baiyun Railway Station, the line will relieve traffic congestion in the city center.

It is intended to serve as the northwest-southeast structural backbone of the X-shaped diagonal and is one of Guangzhou's most significant lines. So far, 45 percent of the line's civil construction has been completed.
