Baiyun opens China's 1st service station on cosmetics quality

Updated : July 21, 2022

China's first one-stop service station for cosmetic quality infrastructure officially opened in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, local media outlets reported on July 20.

The first group to settle in the station consisted of five organizations, including the Guangzhou Quality Inspection Institute and the Guangzhou Metrology Institute, offering nine types of services, such as cosmetics testing, inspection, as well as certification.

Two major achievements made in the international comparative study of the quality of sunscreen products and hair care products were introduced at the event, which were compared with 78 copies of national standards in 12 countries for over 10 times by standardization and technical experts.

In terms of physical, chemical, and in vitro evaluation fields, a comprehensive evaluation system on the safety and efficacy of sunscreen products was established after detecting prohibited and restricted substances for the first time in the world.

In addition, China's first evaluation system of hair products' effects, such as hair breaking prevention, anti-dandruff, and hair care, was established, being the most complete system in the hair product field both at home and abroad.

Guangzhou will make full use of the station to provide the cosmetics industry with comprehensive infrastructure services, as well as to cultivate the new international competitive advantages of Guangzhou's cosmetics industry, said Yuan Ling, deputy head of the Guangzhou bureau of market supervision.
