Cross-border e-commerce transactions exceed 100 billion yuan at Baiyun airport
Statistics from Guangzhou Customs show that cross-border e-commerce turnover at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport had exceeded 100 billion yuan ($15.74 billion) as of Dec 5, making 1.5-fold growth year-on-year and making it China’s first aviation port with imports and exports surpassing 100 billion yuan.
As one of three comprehensive aviation hubs in China, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport’s airline network covers 230 destinations around the globe. With one of the most flexible cross-border e-commerce business models in China, its business covers B2B2C imports, B2C imports, general exports and B2B exports, with B2C imports ranking among the top nationwide in terms of business volume. For every 100 imported goods purchased through a B2C platform this year, about half are delivered from Baiyun airport.
The port has gathered over 1,000 cross-border e-commerce enterprises, including industry leaders such as COSCO Shipping, Baoneng Group and Vipshop Holdings. Now more than 100,000 types of commodities pass through the port. Since 2021, e-commerce imports and exports have surged, and its business scale has ranked first among aviation ports in China for seven consecutive years.
In order to facilitate the building of an international cross-border e-commerce hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guangzhou Customs has established a comprehensive service system with innovative regulations, convenient customs clearance and favorable policies.
At present, the port has initiated an online smart service project, providing services for mainstream e-commerce platforms and saving them nearly 10 million yuan in comprehensive costs annually.
