The two-day 2024 Imperial Springs International Forum concluded with a success in Madrid, Spain on Dec 12, marking its debut on the global stage.

More than 200 participants from the political, academic, and business circles in over 50 countries, including over 50 former heads of state, heads of government, and leaders of international organizations, and over 90 internationally-renowned experts, scholars, and business leaders attended the forum, which was themed "Collective Action for One Future".

The participants shared their insightful views on crucial topics such as global security, world economy, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

The forum was initiated in 2011 with the previous events held in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province.

From Guangzhou, the bustling southern gateway of China, to Madrid, the renowned gateway to Europe, the forum advocated for openness, the defining feature of China in its relations to the rest of the world. With firm and resolute step, China's circle of friends on the world stage continues to grow.

Korosi Csaba, president of the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, said that the forum sends a positive signal of China actively constructing a shared platform for global action, urging more countries to shoulder responsibilities together and seek solutions to challenges collectively.

This year marks the beginning of the second golden decade of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. The Belt and Road Initiative, an internationally acclaimed public good and a well-received platform for international cooperation, became a buzzword at the forum.

Danilo Turk, former president of Slovenia and president of World Leadership Alliance - Club de Madrid, highlighted that through high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, China has demonstrated a positive attitude towards global cooperation and multilateralism to the world.

Amid the uncertainties and challenges brought by unilateralism and protectionism to global development, the forum embraces unity, communication, dialogue and consultation for solutions.

In a world intertwined with transformation and turbulence - from climate change and trade frictions to emerging growth in new energy technologies and artificial intelligence - the collective actions are needed to enhance resilience against risks and challenges.

Tse Kwok Leung, senior research fellow (honorary) of Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance (IGEF) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said that it's high time to act in response to global development issues.

With the theme "Collective Action for One Future", the 2024 Imperial Springs International Forum highlighted the need to discard the outdated zero-sum mentality and join hands to address global challenges and advance international cooperation.

From Guanghzhou to Madrid, the forum also sent out a strong message that China will not close its door, and instead, it will open its door even wider to the world.
