The Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) recently unveiled the World Cities 2024 report, placing Guangzhou at 22nd. This notable ascent cements its status as a top global city and marks its highest-ever ranking on the list.

In recent years, Guangzhou has entered a period of steady and rapid advancement in GaWC's global city ranking system. The approved Guangzhou Urban Spatial Plan paints a vision of the city as a central world hub exuding classic allure and modern vibrancy. This plan underscores Guangzhou's dedication to becoming a top-tier global city and actively participating in high-level international competition.

Guangzhou persists in accelerating development and reform, improving its business environment, prioritizing its evolution into an international hub, and fortifying its strategic technological framework. Guangzhou already boasts strong comprehensive capabilities and core competitiveness, assuming a more prominent role on the global stage than before.

Its ranking enhances the city's visibility, reputation, competitiveness, and influence, serving as a driving force for further progress. In today's fiercely competitive global urban arena, cities must forge ahead, embrace their responsibilities, and effectively represent their nations in global collaboration and competition.
