YPC students visit Guangdong Experimental High School.

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) visited Guangdong from Oct 5 to 13 at the invitation of Guangdong Experimental High School. The 45-member delegation visited Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai, participating in the "2024 Global Bay Areas Chorus Bridge".

YPC paid a visit to the Baiyun campus of Guangdong Experimental High School on Oct 8, where both groups exchanged gifts. YPC presented a New York photo album and coffee, while the Chinese hosts surprised their guests with bear toys dressed in school uniforms.

YPC and the Guangdong Experimental High School Choir also rehearsed for their joint performance, scheduled for Oct 9. The music hall in Guangdong Experimental High School, specially designed for choral rehearsals, uses acoustics to blend sounds without electronic amplification, providing an ideal setting for the exchange.

YPC, founded by Francisco J. Núñez, is renowned globally, having won three titles at the 12th World Choir Games in 2023, while the Guangdong Experimental High School Choir, established in 1952, has won 13 world titles. Núñez expressed his excitement for further exchanges, saying, "Meeting in person is truly special, and we hope our counterparts from Guangdong can visit New York soon".
