An actor of the Guangdong Puppet Art Theater performs in Yekaterinburg.

Responding to an invitation from Guangzhou's friendship city of Yekaterinburg, Russia, the Guangdong Puppet Art Theater visited the city from Sept 11 to 16 to take part in the eighth International Puppet Theater Festival.

They presented traditional classic puppet shows of Lingnan culture, engaged with the audience, and displayed the unique charm of Chinese puppetry on the international stage, enthusiastically promoting traditional Chinese culture.

This year commemorates the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and marks the first-ever China-Russia Cultural Year. Both nations have organized a diverse array of cultural exchange activities. Guangzhou and Yekaterinburg became friendship cities in 2002. Since then, they have been actively involved in exchanges and collaboration across sectors including economy, urban planning, culture, and education.
