Expats get on a double-decker with the cultural tourism line and enjoy traditional Cantonese dim sum.
What would it be like to tour around the city in a double-decker while enjoying Cantonese dim-sum along the way? Ask the expats who just participated in the "A Cultural Tour of GZ" event organized by Guangzhou International Cooperation Center (GICC) and Guangyue International Community of Liede Street, Tianhe district.
On Aug 2, some 20 expats got on a double-decker with the "Experience Guangzhou: A Journey Through Time and Tradition" cultural tourism line and enjoyed traditional Cantonese dim sum while taking in the views through the 360-degree panoramic skylight, indulging in a feast of both visual and culinary enjoyment.
The double-decker departed from the Hotel Landmark Canton and passed through classic areas of the old city downtown, including Taikang Road, Beijing Road, Wanfu Road, Zhongshan Road, and Yanjiang Road, taking passengers on a tour around nearly 20 cultural and tourism attractions and iconic landmarks such as Haizhu Square, Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, Nanyue King Museum, Lychee Bay, Yongqingfang, Shamian Island, and Tianzi Wharf. The entire route was approximately 13 kilometers long and took 90 minutes, with English-speaking tour guides provided.
AJ, from Pennsylvania, USA, said that although he had tasted many Cantonese dim sums before, this was his first time enjoying them while touring the old city on a sightseeing bus, which he found to be a fantastic experience. Annie, from India, who considers herself a 'Guangzhou native' after living in the city for a decade, she considers the city to be comfortable, livable and safe, and she has received much help from friendly locals.
