Today, when global development faces multiple challenges, realizing sustainable development goals requires cities and local governments to work together, promote each other, respond to opportunities and challenges, and create better human settlements.

The global initiative collection of the 6th Guangzhou Award was officially launched in February, 2023, welcoming urban innovation initiatives from global cities and local governments. The 6th Guangzhou Awards Preliminary Evaluation Result Press Conference will take place on September 14. During the conference, 15 shortlisted cities and 30 deserving cities will be selected by the Technical committee (TC) composed of experts and scholars from all over the world. The shortlisted cities will participate in the competition for the five Guangzhou Award winners.

On September 14, Release of the 6th Guangzhou Award Shortlisted Cities will announce the 15 shortlisted cities and hold International Symposium on Urban Innovation at the same time, inviting experts in innovation at home and aboard to discuss how innovation can lead the high-quality urban development and speed the local implementation of global agendas, including SDGs and New Urban Agenda (NUA).
