On April 17, the Information Office of Guangzhou Municipal Government and GDToday of Nanfang Media Group launched a story-sharing event at Zhujiang Park in Guangzhou.
Themed "Canton Fair, Hello Again," the event invited representatives of chambers of commerce and enterprises from home and abroad to share their stories with China's oldest and largest trade fair.
"The Canton Fair, one that has gone through a glorious history of 66 years, is of great significance to our over 2,300 American and international member companies. Today, it has transformed itself into the grandest trade fair that occupies the largest area and offers the widest variety of commodities. AmCham South China has and will continue to work closely with each other to help American companies take advantage of the gold mine of opportunities presented by the Canton Fair," said Harley Seyedin, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, at the GDToday story-sharing salon.
Other overseas buyers echoed Harley, believing that Canton Fair is an essential platform for them. By attending the fair, they can find the best products and the most suitable partners.
Diego Klaus, marketing director of the BraCham, attended the Canton Fair for the first time about 20 years ago. He recalled that he met a small supplier once. It now has grown to become a massive manufacturer in China and a great partner.
Canton Fair allows global buyers to meet customers, partners, and friends. "This story is not only my story with the Canton Fair. It is also the story of several Brazilian companies that maybe would not have thrived if it was not for this exhibition," he said.
China is Brazil's leading trading partner, and Canton Fair is the main destination of Brazilian traders when visiting China. The expectations for this 133rd Canton Fair are huge.
Rebecca Tam, regional manager of Far East Brokers(HK) Ltd., has been registered as a buyer of the Canton Fair since 2003. "We can find new products and new partners every year at the Canton Fair, which still plays a very indispensable role in international trade and injects strong impetus into the world economy."
She also shared her joy at the resumption of the offline exhibition. "Now, we can communicate with manufacturers face to face and make a clearer display of the functions and quality of our products."
Apart from overseas buyers, the domestic exhibitors were also happy with the fruitful results of the Canton Fair.
Chen Gang, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Wanbao Group Refrigerator Co., Ltd., revealed that their exhibition booth was packed with people on the first day (April 15) of the 133rd Canton Fair.
"This year's Canton Fair has brought new foreign clients to us, including those from Russia, Iran, Norway, Chile, Iraq, the United States, Canada, and the Republic of Korea," he said.
On April 15, his company at the fair received foreign buyers and visitors from Russia, America, and the Middle East, with about 70 inquiries and signed a contract with clients from North Africa on the spot.
"The offline exhibition enables us to reunite with the purchasers," Tracy Mai, senior manager of International Promotion, International Department and China Foreign Trade Center. She has worked for the Canton Fair for 24 years.
In her view, the participation of overseas buyers during every session of the Canton Fair is the most significant approval for their work. It reflects their deep feelings for the fair and highlights their confidence in and expectations for Chinese manufacturing and the Chinese market.
"I've had the honor to serve global buyers at Canton Fair for so many years, helping them get to know more about the fair, participate in the fair, and love the fair," Said Tracy proudly.
