Recife is a key port city in northeastern Brazil, as well as a city steeped in history and culture. This year marks the 15th anniversary since it established friendly ties with Guangzhou.

Yan Yuqing, the Chinese consul-general in Recife, said in an interview that over the past 15 years, the two cities have built a friendship based on official visits by both sides, economic and trade benefits, and cultural exchanges. Their close ties now serve as a model of exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese Consulate-General in Recife is keen to continue working with local authorities in Guangzhou to promote Chinese culture, high-quality brands, and China's strengths and reputation in the Brazilian city, Yan noted. She also expressed a willingness to support joint efforts to make both cities greener, smarter, and safer.
