A batch of medical supplies for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus has departed from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 14, heading to two of Guangzhou's sister cities, Fukuoka in Japan and Gorgan in Iran.
Supplies for another 10 sister cities in countries hard-hit by the epidemic, such as Milan, Turin, Lyons, and Gwangju, will be sent on a continuous basis soon, including 2.55 million protective masks and 2,200 forehead thermometers.
These supplies are expected to relieve the pressure of medical resource shortages in these cities and showcase the deep friendship among sister cities.
Guangzhou has received support in forms like letters and donations from 40 sister cities in 25 countries during its fight against the novel coronavirus.
Guangzhou has designated protective masks and forehead thermometers as the main supplies to be donated to foreign cities. The city has been carrying out communication with its sister cities for the transportation of medical supplies.
