Guangzhou Foreign Language School will start a second phase of expanding construction, and the construction is scheduled to last until October 2021, Guangzhou Daily reported on March 12.
Guangzhou Foreign Language School, which is located in Guangzhou's Nansha district, put its first phase campus into operation in January 2010. The first phase covers a total area of 49,000 square meters. Currently, the school has 2,298 students, as well as 202 teaching staff members.
The second phase construction of the school is expected to meet the rising education needs in both Nansha district and Guangzhou.

The building area of the second phase of the school is 77,021 sq m, of which 41,153 sq m are for the middle school department and the high school department, while the remaining 35,868 sq m will be allocated as the study area for foreign students, as well as those from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
The area for overseas students, which will cost 432.05 million yuan ($61.95 million) in total, covers six five-floor teaching buildings, two five-floor laboratory buildings, a four-floor canteen, three six-floor student dormitories, an international communications building, as well as other outdoor facilities like sports areas.
After the expansion, the school is expected to enroll 3,000 more students on campus, increasing the total number of student to more than double the current number.
A total of 1,000 places will be available for overseas students, and the school will introduce 200 exchange students after expansion.
