A press conference was held by the information office of Guangzhou municipal people's government on Feb 24 in Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone, discussing local achievements in resuming production.

A total of 13 projects in the economic zone have been listed among Guangzhou's major construction projects in 2020 and all eight projects under construction have resumed production. The other five projects will start construction as scheduled.

In addition, 46 of all 50 projects in the zone have finished the recording process for resuming operation.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Comprehensive Boned Zone has seen 144 out of all 154 companies resuming production. SF Express has gone through a huge increase in cargo volume, delivering about 312 metric tons of novel coronavirus epidemic prevention materials donated from overseas.

Li Hongjiang, deputy general manager of SF Express' branch in Guangzhou, noted that the import business volume of the Guangzhou port of SF Express has increased by 2.5 times compared with the same period last year, as of 4pm on Feb 22.

Norbert Marx, German general manager of Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co Ltd (GAMECO), returned to Guangzhou from abroad, despite  the novel coronavirus outbreak in China, to maintain the normal operation of the company along with colleagues.

Marx noted that the company was operating as usual due to the particular nature of its industry. Currently, 18 of the company's 21 lines dedicated to the examination and repair of planes have resumed operation.

Making full use of the local company advantages, the economic zone has organized companies like China Southern Airlines, 9 Air, Goldjet Logistics, and Suijia Logistics to offer various services for more than 18,000 planes, such as transporting medical staff and medical supplies, as well as examining and repairing planes.
