Guangzhou, Australia project to fight cancer opens

A Sino-Australian cancer cooperation project was inaugurated on Dec 20 at Jinshazhou Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, with more than 1,000 patient beds expected to be added in the future.

The international tumor medical center, jointly built by Jinshazhou Hospital and Australia Medicine Group, is equipped with global leading medical technologies and facilities.

Communication and cooperation in various areas spanning discipline construction, talent training, clinical practice, as well as scientific innovation will be carried out between the two parties to bring more benefits to patients and turn the medical center into an incubator for training high-caliber talents.

 The project will apply a multi-disciplinary team model, allowing patients to receive comprehensive assessments by experts from different departments such as imaging, surgery, and internal medicine.

During the inauguration ceremony, Jinshazhou Hospital signed a contract with Mevion Medical Systems lnc, a global giant in the medical equipment industry, to introduce the Mevion S250i, a small integrated proton therapy system, which is the first of its kind in the South China area.

Biological medicine, the new generation of information technology, and artificial intelligence have been set as three key industries in Guangzhou.

Jinshazou Hospital, a 3A-grade hospital in Guangzhou integrating medicine, teaching, scientific research, and disease prevention, has a service coverage of nearly 700,000 people.
