Guangzhou to host first Greater Bay overseas Chinese conference

The first overseas Chinese conference on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is scheduled to be held from Nov 11 to 15 in Guangzhou, according to an announcement made during a press conference held by the People's Government of Guangdong Province on Nov 4.

The conference, co-hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, has received registration from 440 overseas Chinese of 108 countries and regions.

It is expected that about 500 overseas Chinese will participate in the event, including a number of outstanding talents with international influence in areas spanning finance, science and technology, education, as well as media. 

Representatives from Hong Kong and Macao, as well as prestigious Chinese entrepreneurs will also be invited to the conference, said Pang Guomei, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province.

Pang said that the conference will promote the construction of the Greater Bay Area through a series of activities including keynote speeches, communication events, policy recommendations, cultural exhibitions and performances, as well as field visits.
