The 6th Global Integrated Circuit and Sensor Summit was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Oct 11 along with the China Internet of Things (IoT) Application Summit, attracting experts and academicians from home and abroad.
Keynote speeches and sub-forums were held during the summit, discussing pressing issues spanning integrated circuit technology, IoT, new energy vehicles, smart sensor technology, and artificial intelligence.
"This year's summit has also invited industrial pioneers from Hong Kong and Macao to pursue the development of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao innovation and technology corridor, as well as to contribute to the further development of China's integrated circuits and IoT industries," said Cao Jianlin, chairman of the Technological Innovation Alliance of the Integrated Circuits Industry.
Being an important manufacturing base for the electronic information industry around the world, Guangdong has ranked at the top in China in terms of its electronic information industry scale in China, yet its industrial structure has been unbalanced.

Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City in Huangpu district welcomed the construction project of Guangdong's only mass production line of 12-inch chips on September 20, establishing a whole industrial chain ecosystem featuring chip design, wafer manufacturing, package testing, and terminal application, marking Guangzhou's first step in developing its semiconductors industry.
A research institute for integrated circuits and system application in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has also settled down in Huangpu district, aiming to become a leading cultivation base of talents in the integrated circuit industry and offering support for the establishment of an innovation industrial cluster with distinctive characteristics of the Greater Bay Area.
Huangpu district has possessed a relatively complete integrated circuits industry chain, clustering more than 350 companies like Anyka (Guangzhou) Microelectronics Technology Co Ltd and On-Bright Electronics Co Ltd.
Currently, the output scale of the new generation information technology industry in Huangpu district has exceeded over 200 billion yuan ($28.22 billion), with the number of that for artificial intelligence and smart equipment manufacturing rising over 60 billion yuan.
