A painting and calligraphy exhibition held in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China opened at Guangzhou Huanghuagang Mausoleum on Sept 20, displaying a total of 70 works.
The exhibition has attracted 30 artists from several provinces and municipalities in Chinese mainland, such as Hainan and Beijing, along with 40 overseas Chinese from 28 countries and regions including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Canada, and Argentina, said Chen Zhixiong, the person in charge of the exhibition.
All exhibits were made into a 70-meter-long scroll which will be mounted by Huanghuagang Mausoleum after the exhibition closes on Oct 30.
Yan Qiang, a member of the Yuexiu district CPC standing committee, said that the scroll fully showcased the artistic achievements of Chinese artists from home and abroad, as well as added new cultural charm to the district.
He Jingxian, chairman of the calligraphers' association in Canada who is originally from Guangdong province, said that overseas Chinese have been very proud of China's great achievements along with the traditional painting and calligraphy culture of their homeland.
