Guangzhou Ballet, a classical ballet company based in the Guangdong province capital of Guangzhou, made their debut at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City on Aug 17, staging a visual feast for an audience of over 1,800.
The two ballet performances were an integration of the essence of Eastern and Western ballet, with Carmina Burana choreographed and directed by renowned ballet professor Jiang Qi and Luo Shen, which is based on a Chinese poem dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and choreographed by Canadian choreographer Peter Quanz.
Since its establishment 25 years ago, Guangzhou Ballet has insisted on creating a variety of artistic repertoires. Before the performance at the Lincoln Center, the group had toured and won praise in many places such as Toronto, Canada.
