Rwanda's flag carrier begins Guangzhou flights

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated:2019-06-21

RwandAir, the flag carrier of Rwanda, began flights to Guangzhou on Tuesday, scheduling flights to the city on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Guangzhou is tagged to the airline's existing Mumbai route, and the flights to the southern Chinese city are operated by Airbus A330 aircraft with triple class cabins, Wi-Fi onboard and in-flight entertainment.

"With the increasing volume of trade between African countries and China, the need to meet the high demand of businessmen and traders traveling between Africa and Guangzhou is strong. This new route will open new business opportunities and also increase our passenger and cargo traffic," RwandAir CEO Yvonne Manzi Makolo said in a statement.

Guangzhou, also known as Canton, is an expansive port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River. The city, a major shopping destination for merchants, also features popular tourist attractions such as the iconic Canton Tower and Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort.

Guangzhou has become RwandAir's second destination in Asia following Mumbai, extending RwandAir's network to 28 destinations.
