Nansha Bridge, formerly known as Second Humen Bridge, which links Guangzhou's Nansha with Shatian town in Dongguan, opened to traffic on April 2.

The bridge marks the first super project to be opened for use after the announcement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Feb 18.

With a two-way eight-lane design, the bridge has a design speed of 100 kilometer per hour and a designed service life of 100 years. The 12.89-kilometer project is a new arterial road to boost interconnection in the Greater Bay Area as it shortens the travel time from Nansha to Humen in Dongguan to 15 minutes.
