Intertek Group, a multinational assurance, inspection, product-testing and certification company based in London, United Kingdom, opened a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) test center in Nansha on Jan 8.
The center boasts two leading labs in the HVAC testing industry—the multi-connected air conditioner unit enthalpy difference laboratory and the electromagnetic reverberation chamber.

The labs will be able to provide standard services for air conditioners and have a maximum test capacity of a whopping 60 tons of refrigeration (A ton of refrigeration is a unit of power used to describe the heat-extraction capacity of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. It is defined as the heat of fusion absorbed by melting one short ton (0.907 ton) of pure ice at 0 °C in 24 hours).

The opening of the labs brings Chinese manufacturing and the international market closer. Intertek hopes to participate in the development of comprehensive services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, enhance industrial agglomeration efficiency and help allocate quality service resources, said the Intertek China CEO.

According to Xie Ming, who spoke at the opening ceremony, testing is a key supporting service for the intelligent manufacturing industry. The service is essential to the smart manufacturing industrial chain, and necessary for an innovation-driven development strategy. It is also in line with the development trajectory of industry in Nansha. He added that Nansha is currently taking this as a starting point and actively promoting the opening up of the modern service industry.
