500 HK and Macao students complete internships in Nansha

The 2018 Closing Ceremony of Nansha "Hundreds of Enterprises, Thousands of Interns" Internship Program for young students from Hong Kong and Macao was held in Nansha, Guangzhou on Aug 24, marking the official completion of internships of 500 young students from the two special administrative regions.

Since May this year, altogether 522 Hong Kong and Macao students from universities in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and even Taiwan have successfully completed their summer internships in Nansha.

During the program, they visited all nine cities of Guangdong in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to experience economic achievements as well as historical and cultural heritages. They also visited startup hubs and top scientific and technological enterprises, investigated urban planning and distinctive water town culture, participated in rich and colorful recreational activities, and learned the development and construction results of the national free trade zone.

Over the past 30 days, Nansha has witnessed the continued growth and gains of the interns. Outstanding intern representative Chen Haomeng thanked Nansha for providing such a great internship platform for students from Hong Kong and Macao.

Nansha, as she put it, is a vibrant city with convenient mobile payment and intelligent traffic. It is a place for students to learn not only professional knowledge, but the practical knowledge which helps broaden one's horizon. She also expressed her willingness to work in Nansha.

At the ceremony, the Hong Kong (Nansha) Youth Development Promotion Association and Macao (Nansha) Youth Development Association were officially established. The two associations were set up in Hong Kong and Macao respectively to promote exchanges and cooperation between youth.

The two associations will build a comprehensive service platform to provide one-stop services for those wishing to seek development in the mainland. And the students participating in the internship program will be given priority to gain membership and enjoy the services provided.

At the event, the Nansha Youth Federation invited five outstanding young students from Hong Kong and Macao as honorary students of the internship program in 2019. Being student leaders, they will pay close attention to the education development of interns and provide them with organization and management services.
