The Guangzhou Development District (GDD) led the nation in offering "instant approval" services for a list of 233 government service items on July 25.

The services encompass things such as administrative permission, administrative record filing and public service, and they now involve a quicker and simpler approval procedure. Approval results can be obtained on the spot, delivered to door via EMS, or checked online.

The services items, the first of their kind, are quickly approved either on-site by fully authorized service windows and self-service machines or online by relevant government departments.

Under the new method, citizens are not required to visit government departments personally for these services, saving travel time and transport costs.

According to the district, it will implement the new procedures in installments and assess their efficacy in 14 different approval service departments, such as public security, transportation and civil affairs, to maximize their effectiveness.
