Tancun village, an urban village in the city of Guangzhou, recently celebrated the upgrading of its plumbing system.
More than 2,000 water meters and nearly 70 fire hydrants have been installed in the village, greatly reducing the cost of running water and making the village more fire resistant.
According to the Guangzhou Water Supply Company, the city of Guangzhou plans to spend a total of 3.64 billion yuan ($550 million) upgrading plumbing systems in 72 urban villages like Tancun.
